Reporting to our General Manager – Steel, you’ll provide leadership of steel project teams, driving safe, on-time and on-budget delivery while exceeding client expectations. From pre-construction planning and design input to site visits and commercial performance, you’ll own every phase of multiple structural-steel projects and inspire your team to achieve legendary results.

In addition to driving project success, you will leave a lasting legacy in the industry by contributing to the growth of the business.

Key responsibilities include:

- Champion a safety-first culture, embed HSEQ standards, educate subcontractors and close-out actions to protect every person on site
- Lead and mentor high-performing project teams. Set goals, coach talent and model “The McNab Way” behaviours across disciplines
- Drive rigorous quality assurance by overseeing ITP development, third-party inspections and on-site checks to deliver defect-free steel packages.
- Own end-to-end project delivery, programme and resources to meet contract milestones, budget and client expectations
- Manage procurement & subcontractors. Let and supervise drafting, fabrication, freight and rigging partners to keep the schedule on track
- Drive the commercial performance of the project by monitoring cashflow, margins and risk to ensure profitable, high-quality outcomes
- Provide Continuous improvement to our systems by collaborating with the steel team on lessons learnt, and contribute to ongoing excellence
- Provide input during the design phase to ensure steel systems meet standards, budgets, and client requirements.
- Manage procurement and subcontractors, Let and supervise drafting, fabrication, freight and rigging partners to keep the schedule on track
- Develop strong industry relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors for optimal commercial outcomes.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse project team and oversee the installation on site whiles fostering a positive and team-oriented work environment.
- Collaborate with project teams to leverage subcontractor relationships and obtain competitive pricing while delivering quality outcomes
- Inspect installations both locally and internationally to ensure adherence to quality standards. Weekly travel to local sites is required and some overseas travel from time to time may be required.
- Conduct project reviews, prepare reports, and manage financial aspects, including invoicing and progress claims.
- Prioritise quality in all aspects of work, ensuring the delivery of defect-free products that exceed client expectations.
- Ensure designs are coordinated, fit for purpose, and compliant with contractual obligations.
- Understand client needs and develop specialised solutions aligned with their success factors.

About you

- Previous solid experience in a similar Project Management role managing steel or large-scale construction projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field. OR Trade qualification. Plus a Construction White Card.
- Current valid drivers licence and a willingness to travel to project sites across Southeast QLD.
- Current passport and willingness to travel overseas if required.
- Track record leading contractors, suppliers and internal teams across concurrent projects.
- Sound knowledge of NCC, statutory regulations and the Codes.
- A proactive, relationship-first mindset with sharp commercial acumen.
- Proven experience in construction systems, contractor selection, and project management.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and customer service skills.
- Intermediate MS Office skills and previous use of Jobpac (would be highly regarded)
- Proven commercial acumen and strategic thinking ability.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and facilitation skills
