This role is central to transforming engineering concepts into precise, production ready drawings that ensure structural integrity, regulatory compliance, and efficient manufacturing processes. Your work will contribute to improved production throughput, reduced design errors, and enhanced product quality. Core Responsibilities: • Prepare detailed 2D and 3D engineering drawings for caravan chassis, structural frames, suspension layouts, and internal configurations. • Convert engineering concepts, sketches, and specifications into accurate, production ready technical documentation. • Produce fabrication, assembly, and detailed manufacturing drawings with high precision and clarity. • Develop and modify 3D models to support customised caravan builds and advanced construction methods. • Ensure structural stability, load distribution, and durability through accurate drafting principles. • Incorporate specifications for steel, aluminium, welded connections, and reinforcement systems. • Support production teams by providing technical clarification and resolving design related issues. • Assist in implementing CAD and digital modelling systems to improve workflow efficiency. • Prepare material take offs, Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and support cost estimation processes. • Ensure all drawings comply with Australian Standards, engineering requirements, and internal quality procedures. • Maintain organised documentation, drawing revisions, and version control systems. • Participate in prototype development, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives. • Collaborate with engineering, design, and production teams to enhance manufacturing efficiency. Job Tasks: • Ensure all drawings meet operational, structural, and quality standards through precise drafting and documentation. • Maintain detailed logs of drawings, revisions, specifications, and production changes. • Participate in engineering meetings, design reviews, and compliance activities. • Assist in training colleagues on CAD systems, drawing standards, and documentation procedures. • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design accuracy and production efficiency. • Work with supervisors and team members to resolve design challenges and implement effective solutions. • Use CAD software, 3D modelling tools, and drawing management systems efficiently. • Handle technical data, specifications, and engineering documentation in accordance with quality control procedures. • Contribute to maintaining a clean, organised, and compliant documentation environment. Key Qualifications: • Strong foundation in engineering drafting, including 2D and 3D modelling. • Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications, structural data, and technical drawings. • Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks or equivalent). • Understanding of structural systems, fabrication processes, and material properties. • Knowledge of Australian Standards and engineering compliance requirements. • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. • Effective communication and teamwork skills. Desirable: • Experience in caravan, automotive, or fabrication based design environments. • Familiarity with aluminium structural systems and precision fabrication. • Exposure to load calculations, stress distribution, or structural analysis. • Additional training in engineering drafting, design systems, or compliance.
