Overview
We're seeking an experienced Senior DBA for a 9-month contract with a large national client. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on delivery, shaping database architecture, optimising performance, and ensuring systems are scalable, reliable, and secure.
Base pay range
A$100.00/hr - A$140.00/hr
Responsibilities
Lead strategy and architecture for OLTP and OLAP systems.
Optimise performance and resolve complex database issues.
Define and enforce standards for schema design and queries.
Mentor engineers and uplift database engineering practices.
Collaborate with product and SRE teams on resilience and scale.
Assess and adopt emerging database technologies.
What You'll Bring
10+ years in database engineering with proven leadership.
Deep expertise in SQL Server and one NoSQL technology (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB).
Cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure) with managed services (RDS/Aurora).
Robust knowledge of database security, monitoring, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
Track record mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.
