About the Role
We are supporting a growing international renewable energy developer in the search for a Business Development Manager to drive the expansion of its solar and BESS portfolio in Australia.
This is a hands-on development role responsible for leading projects from greenfield origination through to planning approvals and financial close. The position requires strong knowledge of the Australian regulatory environment, grid connection processes, and stakeholder engagement, alongside the ability to work closely with international headquarters to align local execution with global strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the full lifecycle of renewable energy project development, including site identification, feasibility assessments, land negotiations, and planning approvals.
Navigate the technical and regulatory requirements of utility-scale battery energy storage projects, including fire safety, grid stability, and market participation strategies.
Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, First Nations groups, local councils, and state planning authorities.
Act as a trusted project representative in community and regulatory engagement processes.
Oversee grid enquiry and application processes, working with AEMO and Network Service Providers to secure viable connection outcomes and Generator Performance Standards (GPS).
Develop project business cases and commercial models.
About You
Minimum 5+ years' experience in renewable energy development within the Australian market (NEM or WEM).
Strong experience in BESS development, including land, planning, and grid connection processes.
Proven track record of progressing projects through Development Approval (DA) and toward financial close.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to translate complex regulatory and technical requirements into clear strategic direction.
Degree in Engineering, Planning, Business, or a related discipline.
