At Reef Catchments, our Communications and Media Officers are more than storytellers, they are connectors and advocates for our mission. This role leads the full spectrum of communications, from media engagement and content creation to brand management, digital presence, and organisational messaging.
As the voice of our organisation, you’ll help shape how Reef Catchments is seen and heard - building strong community connections, raising awareness of our work, and ensuring our message is clear, consistent, and impactful. The Reef Catchments Group includes Reef Catchments, a not-for-profit organisation limited by guarantee, and our wholly owned subsidiary, Catchment Solutions Pty Ltd.

Reef Catchments is the Natural Resource Management (NRM) organisation for the Mackay Whitsunday Isaac region.
We facilitate change and work for long-term solutions to sustain, protect, and improve our region’s natural resources and environment, both now and into the future.

Selection Criteria
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications highly regarded
- Three + years prior experience in a related communications and/or media role
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate the development of high-quality communications resources and products across platforms, from engaging print to high-impact online and interactive media
- Proficient writer across various mediums including media releases, case studies, website content and long form articles
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relations and collaborate with diverse teams and individuals
- Experienced in the use of the Adobe Creative Suite, in particular, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier Pro and Photoshop
- Experience in website content management and updates (specifically WordPress)
- Experience in social media platforms, management, and content creation (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube)
- Strong attention to detail, and high workflow and priority management skills
- Ability to work autonomously and in a harmonious team environment
- Photography - able to capture and process quality images for use in communications resources
- Experienced media qualified with the ability to form strong relationships with media at a local, state and national level
- Knowledge of in-house video production and editing
- Experience in user testing, conducting focus groups and/or designing and conducting feedback surveys
- Experience in electronic direct mail systems such as Mailchimp
- Experience with NRM/environmental and/or not-for-profit (NFP) sector (i.e. familiarity with subject matter and business models)
