AmSpec is a market leader in independent inspection, testing, verification and specialized technical services to the Marine, Oil, Gas and Chemical, exploration, production, refining, and transportation industries.

The right candidate: If you have experience in the Maritime sector specifically with dry cargo transfers, we want to hear from you.

The role: We have a casual vacancy for this busy diverse role in Adelaide, South Australia

Responsibilities

- Conduct quantity surveys of dry cargoes
- Carry out discharge/loading supervisions
- Take samples from vessels and stockpiles
- Compile reports on vessel activities across various South Australian ports

Specific responsibilities

- Demonstrated experience conducting draught surveys on dry cargo vessels preferred
- Solid maritime background – seafaring, terminal operations, or prior surveyor experience highly regarded
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand vessel structures, ballast systems, and cargo handling equipment
- High attention to detail with strong mathematical and observational skills for accurate measurements and reporting
- Proven ability to prepare clear, concise, and compliant documentation
- Liaise with clients to build positive working relationships
- Present the company in a professional and ethical manner to all stakeholders
- Conduct all activities in line with the company Code of Ethics and Operating Standards
- Must demonstrate the right to live and work in Australia
- Hold a valid Australian Driver’s License
- Physically fit as this role requires climbing in ship’s cargo holds
- Hold a valid MSIC or able to obtain one
- Experience in the maritime industry
- Effective communication skills to liaise with vessel crews, terminal staff, and clients
- Ability to work independently and manage changing schedules based on vessel movements
- Flexibility to work outside of standard business hours, including weekends or public holidays as required
- Proficiency across Microsoft Office programs and other programs
