Overview To provide medical skill and expertise in the delivery of comprehensive primary health care services as a member of the TAIHS multidisciplinary health care team, demonstrating leadership in clinical quality and safety and fostering a culture of organisational reflection and continuous quality improvement.Duties & Responsibilities Provide patient-centred and culturally appropriate patient careApply current best practice guidelines to patient care, including following national clinical guidelines, health pathways, RACGP guidelines and therapeutic guidelinesWork collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team which promotes input from Indigenous Health Practitioners, Nurses, Indigenous Health Professionals, Allied Health Practitioners, Reception, and Administration staff to form a high performing medical teamProvide regular preventative health activities including health assessments (MBS item 715)Provide regular chronic disease management care plans (MBS items 721/723) and home medicines review (MBS item 900)Accurately record MBS items for all clinical activitiesProvide comprehensive clinical documentation for all clinical encounters at time of careSee walk in patients as requiredParticipate in outreach clinics including school based clinics, rural outreach clinics and residential aged care facility visits as requiredProvide support to colleagues, medical students and GPs in trainingMaintain confidentiality and privacyAdhere to rules outlined in the medical benefits scheme (MBS) and pharmaceutical benefits scheme (PBS)Adhere to TAIHS policies and procedures including the patient results /recall system and endeavour that all recalls, and actions are addressed within a timely manner as per practice procedureCheck all investigation results and correspondence during each sessionProvide patients with referrals and certificates at point of careTake responsibility for following up patients you have treated and results from investigations you have orderedCheck results and care for patients of other GPs in the practice when requiredParticipate in TAIHS professional development and clinical governance activitiesComplete advanced life support (ALS1) course every 3 years and basic life support (BLS) course annuallyComplete mandatory TAIHS training activitiesParticipate in quality improvement activities and clinical auditsComply with infection prevention and control proceduresMaintain and adhere to the professional standards as outlined by the Medical Board / AHPRA in 'Good medical practice: a code of conduct for doctors in Australia',Notify the Director of Medical Services as soon as possible in cases of patient complaints, ethical dilemmas, interactions with AHPRAReport any foreseeable risks or areas of concern to the director of medical servicesMaintain specialist and general AHPRA registrationMaintain your own medical indemnity insurance and provide a current certificate of insurance to TAIHSRequired Qualifications and Experience Desirable) Postgraduate medical qualification equivalent to the Fellowship of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) or Fellow of Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM)Vocational registration (VR) as a General PractitionerRegistered with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)Current certification for Basic Life Support trainingAdvanced Life Support training is highly desirableRequired Licences and Checks Ability to pass a National Police Check – no Serious/Criminal/Court RecordsHighly recommended- COVID-19 to be, and remain, vaccinated against COVID-19Proof of qualifications and current registration (as appropriate) are to be provided prior to commencement of employmentAbility to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner#J-18808-Ljbffr
