About Cadia
Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometres from Orange and 250 kilometres west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold‑rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine, which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large‑scale underground mining method.
We acknowledge the Wiradjuri people, traditional custodians of the land surrounding Cadia, and proudly run an Indigenous Buddy Program to enrich the workplace experience for our Indigenous employees. As a residential (drive‑in / drive‑out) mine, Cadia values community deeply, offering both financial and in‑kind support to organisations across Blayney, Cabonne, and Orange townships. Your Impact
The Director, Social Performance, Cadia, will be an active member of the site leadership team, leading the Social Performance team to develop, implement and manage social performance and community relations programmes.
You will lead the site social performance strategy, develop initiatives and ensure meaningful engagement with local stakeholders. You will oversee social and human‑rights impact assessments, manage associated risks and opportunities (including those involving business partners), and serve as subject‑matter expert on social risks for the site.
You will ensure the effective implementation and management of grievance mechanisms and engage with local regulators, communities and partners to manage community issues, address commitments, meet regulatory requirements and play a pivotal role in achieving required project approvals.
Other Responsibilities
- Driving and fostering effective partnerships with local communities, governments and other stakeholders, building sustainable processes for enduring relationships that support Cadia’s operational continuity and growth.
- Partnering and collaborating with site leaders to achieve social performance targets, address social impacts and solve issues that could affect operational performance and project approvals.
- Leading and developing a high‑performing social performance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Implementing the Enterprise Social Performance Standards, including stakeholder relationship management, community development, human rights, Indigenous Peoples and social aspects related to the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM).
- Ensuring cross‑functional implementation of social performance programmes and risk controls including local employment, local procurement, human rights, cultural heritage, participatory monitoring and stakeholder engagement.
- Developing and overseeing the implementation and monitoring of comprehensive community engagement plans and programmes to optimise stakeholder collaboration, mitigate risk and deliver on business objectives.
- Supporting investigations and developing actions, tracking actions and reporting on compliance, assurance and governance activities associated with social performance.
- Developing and implementing the site community investment and development programmes aligned with Enterprise frameworks and local community needs and priorities.
- Monitoring social performance events, trends, risks and performance to identify gaps and action plans that address improvements.
Prerequisites for Your Success in the Role
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Social Performance or a relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated managerial experience within the mining industry.
- Knowledge of project‑management fundamentals.
- Extensive site leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience in external engagement programmes with communities, external bodies and regulatory authorities.
This is a permanent residential position based in Orange, Recent South Wales. The role best suits applicants who are currently based in Orange or surrounding NSW, or willing to relocate. Applicants must have full and unrestricted Australian working rights.
