Fyfe is a multi-disciplinary consultancy providing comprehensive engineering, environmental, planning, and surveying services throughout Australia. Fyfe work with a wide range of clients in the Energy & Resources, Infrastructure and Property sectors to provide high quality, commercially pragmatic solutions with a strong focus on client service and delivery.

About the role

Our Energy and Resources Division works with major exploration and distribution clients to deliver specialist mining, infrastructure, oil and gas projects across the country. This is a key leadership role in our Mechanical delivery team and is offered as a permanent full‐time position.

Skills & Experience

We are seeking a Senior / Lead Mechanical Engineer with strong water and wastewater industry capability to lead the delivery of complex engineering projects across the water, infrastructure, and energy sectors. This role is ideally suited to a technically strong and commercially aware engineer who can operate autonomously, lead multidisciplinary delivery, and act as a champion for the growth of our water capability, while also possessing the versatility to support energy and mining and industrial projects where required. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, project delivery oversight, client engagement, and mentoring support across a range of brownfield and greenfield projects.

Duties:

* Lead the delivery and technical execution of mechanical engineering projects within the water and wastewater sector, including treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, and associated infrastructure.
* Deliver projects across concept, feasibility, FEED, detailed design, construction support, and commissioning phases.
* Prepare, review, and modify engineering designs, technical specifications, scopes of work, datasheets, reports, and cost estimates.
* Ensure engineering design practices comply with relevant Australian Standards, WSAA guidelines, client standards, and industry best practice.
* Lead and coordinate interdisciplinary design activities with process, civil, structural, piping, and E&I teams.
* Support and contribute to energy and mining and industrial projects where required, particularly in facilities, piping, pumping systems, and brownfield modifications.
* Participate in HAZOPs, design reviews, constructability reviews, and risk workshops. Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and development support to junior and mid-level engineers.
* Engage directly with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to support project delivery and business development initiatives.
* Support proposal development, tender responses, and strategic client engagement activities within the water sector.

Requirements:

* Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering. CPEng and/or RPEng accreditation highly regarded.
* Proven experience delivering water and wastewater infrastructure projects, ideally including treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, and process mechanical systems.
* Ability to function autonomously and lead projects with minimal supervision.
* Strong understanding of facilities engineering and brownfield upgrade environments.
* Demonstrated experience working across multidisciplinary project teams.
* Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment specification and design, including pumps, valves, piping systems, vessels, and associated infrastructure.
* Experience preparing and reviewing technical documentation including datasheets, scopes of work, work packs, and engineering reports.
* Strong analytical, communication, and technical report writing skills.
* Experience within energy, mining, or industrial infrastructure projects will be highly regarded.
* Commercial awareness and client-facing capability with the ability to build trusted relationships and identify growth opportunities.
