The Role
As Observatory Manager, you will lead the day-to-day operations of the observatory, managing facilities, coordinating contractors and maintaining critical infrastructure.
You will act as the key on-site leader, ensuring operational continuity while working with national and international stakeholders.
Your key responsibilities include:
* Leading day-to-day operations of the observatory site
* Managing infrastructure, facilities, utilities and assets
* Coordinating preventative and reactive maintenance
* Overseeing contractors, trades and service providers
* Maintaining operational records and documentation
* Liaising with national and international stakeholders
* Supporting after-hours critical incidents when required
The Ideal Person
You are a practical, hands-on leader who is comfortable working independently in a regional environment.
You bring:
* Experience in site operations, facilities or asset management
* Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability
* Experience managing contractors or service providers
* Ability to work autonomously and make sound decisions

Due to the requirements of the role, Australian Citizenship is essential.
This role is based in the Mid-West region of Western Australia. Candidates should expect to live within commuting distance (typically within 1 hour of site), with most staff based in nearby coastal communities.
Relocation is required — this is not suited to metro commuting or remote work.
