About the role
Our federal government client is seeking a Senior Objectstar Software Engineer at EL1 equivalent level to lead complex software development and Objectstar migration initiatives.
You will provide technical leadership across the full development lifecycle, including design, build, integration, release, and production support. The role supports large scale transformation and application migration activities, with a strong focus on code quality, risk management, and adherence to endorsed development standards.
You will work closely with Architects, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Analysts and Testers to deliver reliable, secure and maintainable solutions that support essential government services.
This role is open to QLD, ACT, VIC, SA candidates.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and support Objectstar applications
Lead Objectstar data migration and application code transformation activities
Design and deliver complex technical solutions and architecture components
Drive high-quality coding standards and long-term maintainability of code bases
Provide specialist technical advice across development and maintenance
Lead release planning, deployment, go-live support and production maintenance
Conduct high-level technical analysis and provide solution recommendations
Ensure compliance with endorsed development methodologies and standards
Investigate and resolve complex ICT and production issues
Lead risk management activities and mitigation strategies
Contribute to strategic planning, workforce capability uplift and performance improvement
Manage stakeholder relationships across business and technical teams
Mentor and guide engineers and contribute to capability development
Highly desirable criteria
Strong Objectstar development and migration experience
Demonstrated leadership of large or complex system design initiatives
Experience leading systems integration and building capability, including automation and CI
Proven release and deployment leadership, including rollback planning and risk assessment
Experience contributing to organisational development standards and policies
Demonstrated ability to monitor emerging technologies and develop technology roadmaps
Experience driving the adoption of development methods, tools and standards at the program level
Strong experience across software configuration and secure deployment practices
Desirable criteria
Exposure to government or large enterprise ICT environments
Experience working in hybrid, multi-state delivery teams

Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes
Strong analytical capability and sound professional judgement
Ability to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 clearance
