Primary objective

Provide quality oral health clinical services in accordance with Oral Health Service agreed policies, protocols and procedures.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide high quality comprehensive clinical services to eligible client groups both adult and children in urban,

correctional facilities, rural and remote areas.

2. Maintain accurate and complete electronic client records.

3. Develop knowledge of a primary health care approach to oral health care, including engagement of clients in treatment

planning and the promotion of effective self-care.

4. Develop and apply interpersonal skills to work effectively with all members of the oral health team and develop an

awareness of Aboriginal culture and other diverse community groups.

5. Continuously develop and maintain a high level of clinical knowledge, skills and competence in acute and primary oral

health care.

6. Actively participate in professional development activities and Continuous Quality Improvements (CQI) programs.

7. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being

undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Degree in Dentistry registrable with the Dental Board of Australia in the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency

(AHPRA).

2. Demonstrated application of professional oral health knowledge and experience in the independent selection of procedures for

the clinical assessment, prevention, diagnoses, advice and treatment of commonly encountered oral diseases and oral health

problems.

1. Demonstrated understanding of and familiarity with current infection control protocols.

2. Exceptional communication skills with an ability to engage and interact effectively with people from diverse cultures, ability to

work in a team environment and unsupervised (as needed).

1. Ability to travel to remote areas for periods from one day up to a week at a time and provide effective oral health services in

an isolated environment.

1. Demonstrated commitment to professional development activities and quality improvement programs.

Desirable

1. Previous experience in rural/remote service delivery.

other staff, carrying out general anaesthetic services and participate in service planning, development and evaluation.

5. Continuously develop and maintain a high level of clinical knowledge, skills and competence in acute and primary oral

health care.

6. Actively participate in professional development activities and Continuous Quality Improvements (CQI) programs.

7. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.

8. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being

undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Degree in Dentistry registrable with the Dental Board of Australia in the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation

Agency (AHPRA) and clinically competent independent practitioner in all aspects of general dentistry.

2. Demonstrated ability to appropriately manage clinically complex cases, recognise and manage clinical risks and

undertake appropriate treatment across the field of general dentistry applicable to Oral Health Services client base and

core functions.

1. Demonstrated ability to provide clinical guidance and mentoring to new graduates, other staffs and students as required.
2. Exceptional communication skills with an ability to engage and interact effectively with people from diverse cultures,

ability to work in a team environment and unsupervised (as needed).

5. Ability to travel to remote areas for periods of from one day to up to a week at a time and the ability to provide effective

oral health services in an isolated environment.

6. Demonstrated commitment to professional development activities and quality improvements programs.

7. Ability to comply with the requirements of WHS, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Anti-Discrimination
