We have a great opportunity for a Lawyer to join our Costing team in the Melbourne office. This is a full time role with flexibility to work between the office and home after sufficient training. In this role you would be responsible for provision of legal services to Slater and Gordon Lawyers in any costs dispute matters. This includes providing advice on issues such as the validity of solicitor-client cost agreements and making or accepting of offers to settle costs disputes. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:Prepare detailed/itemised bills of costs, and assessments of costsPrepare a Notice of Objections to an itemised billAppear as a costs lawyer at Costs Court direction hearings, mediations and taxationsNegotiate on behalf of a Slater and Gordon Lawyers in costs disputes (solicitor-client and party-party)Prepare all legal cost related work, including, but not limited to, the provision of updated cost disclosure, making application to Funds in Court, Supreme Court of Victoria for payment of non-recoverable legal costs, assessing costs in relation to party and party, and solicitor and client disputesProvide advice on legal costs issues such as the validity of solicitor-client costs agreements What will you bring? An understanding of the importance of preparing costs related work with a high level of accuracy and appropriate level of detail (highly desirable).Previous practising experience in personal injury lawAn enthusiastic and proactive approachExceptional negotiation skills and an ability to communicate effectively and compassionatelyDemonstrate skills in effective network and relationship management in particular, building strong and influential relationships internally and externallyAbility to work autonomously as well as within a team environmentAbility to exercise judgement & resolve problems expeditiously & satisfactorily What next?
