We are flexible in offering this position as either casual or part-time to suit the successful applicant. Please note that the required days and hours of work are set and form an essential part of this role.

Coast Shelter is a leading Central Coast not for profit charity assisting families, adults and young people with complex issues arising from their experience of homelessness, abuse and neglect. The Role
For over 30 years, Coast Shelter's Community Centre has provided free meals for the most vulnerable people in our community. The Community Centre Assistant is responsible for the collection, delivery and storage of donated food and goods for the Coast Shelter Community Centre.
Key Responsibilities
* Lift, carry, load and unload donations for transport from donor locations to the Community Centre within the agreed time frames.
* Sort donated goods, labelling perishable food items with dates when storing them and rotating all items to ensure items at the front/top are used first.
* Have an understanding of proper moving techniques and equipment, following the necessary prescribed policies, procedures and trained manual handling methods.
* Ensure fridges, freezers and pantries are well maintained, clean and free from trip hazards.
* Wipe down and disinfect the food van after every use, and wash and clean as directed.
* Complete vehicle inspection report as required.
* Other duties consistent with the position where required and/or requested by People Manager.

* Understanding of customer service including the ability to relate positively and confidently with a wide range of people, in a variety of settings.
* Assist in the implementation of safe working practices that are compliant with organisation Work Health and Safety policies, implementing corrective measures where necessary.
