Resident Maintenance Electrical Technician

We're looking for a Resident Maintenance Electrical Technician to provide hands‑on electrical and automation support at one of our key customer sites in Truganina, Victoria.
Working as part of an embedded, on‑site team, you'll help keep high‑performance automated systems operating safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
The standard shift pattern for this role is Monday to Friday, 5:30 am–2:00 pm, with future shift changes possible as we continue to grow, including rotational 24/7 coverage.

* Works confidently and calmly during breakdowns, time‑critical repairs and planned maintenance
* Can build positive working relationships both internally and with customer operations teams
* Is organised, proactive and comfortable working independently on a busy site
* Brings a strong safety focus and takes pride in doing things properly
* Wants to work with modern automation, mechatronics and international OEM systems
What you'll be doing
* Responding to breakdowns, shutdowns and preventative maintenance, ensuring all work meets OEM standards
* Completing Computerised Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) work orders on time, with accurate repair notes, parts usage and recommendations
* Working with SSI SCHAEFER's international helpdesk and R&D teams to troubleshoot complex issues
* Supporting the customer's operations team, promoting a positive, productive site environment
* Participating in toolbox talks, WHS discussions and continuous improvement initiatives
* Carrying out basic mechanical tasks and assisting mechanical technicians when required
* Identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance, processes and spare parts management
* Actively contributing to a strong safety culture and adhering to WHS legislative requirements
What you'll bring
* Trade‑qualified Industrial Electrician with 2+ years in automation/mechatronics
* Strong electrical and mechatronics fault‑finding skills
* Experience with PLCs, VSDs, sensors, control/computer systems
* Demonstrated PLC programming skills and advanced troubleshooting capabilities
* Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals and structured maintenance procedures
* Experience using a CMMS
* Excellent customer service, communication and troubleshooting skills
* Understanding of AS3000 wiring standards
* Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights/weekends, if required in future
* Must possess valid Australian work rights without sponsorship requirements
Qualifications
* Current Electrical Licence (essential)
* Additional training or certification in PLC/VSD fault‑finding or programming (highly regarded)
