Your primary responsibilities will include:Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to local, state, and federal health and safety regulations applicable to the poultry industry.Risk Assessment: Identify potential hazards in poultry operations and conduct regular risk assessments. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks.Training and Education: Organize and conduct safety training programs for employees, covering topics such as poultry handling, equipment safety, chemical handling, and biosecurity protocols.Incident Reporting: Establish an efficient incident reporting system, investigate accidents or near misses, and recommend corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.Safety Policies: Develop and maintain comprehensive safety policies and procedures specific to poultry operations. Communicate these policies to all employees and ensure compliance.Safety Audits: Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of poultry facilities, equipment, and processes. Document findings and follow up on corrective actions.Emergency Response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios, including fire, chemical spills, disease outbreaks, and biosecurity breaches. Coordinate drills and ensure staff readiness.Safety Equipment: Manage the selection, maintenance, and distribution of safety equipment, including personal protective gear, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits.Reporting: Prepare and submit regular reports on safety performance, incidents, and compliance to senior management and communicate with Workcover.Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement in safety practices, policies, and procedures. Implement and track improvement initiatives.Return to Work: Support employees throughout their recovery and ensure a safe and structured return to work following an injury. Collaborate closely with medical professionals, supervisors, and the employee to develop a suitable return-to-work plan that considers medical restrictions and job requirements. Our goal is to facilitate a smooth transition back into the workplace, promote recovery, and prevent re-injury through modified duties or accommodations as needed.Biosecurity Management: Implement and oversee biosecurity measures to prevent the introduction and spread of diseases within poultry operations. Ensure compliance with biosecurity protocols and educate staff on best practices.Employee Wellbeing: Promote employee well-being by developing initiatives that support mental and physical health. Provide resources and support for stress management, healthy living, and work-life balance.Credentials:An established track record of fostering safe work environments and practices.Capable of coaching and mentoring staff on various health and safety matters, promoting a culture of safety and responsible behaviours.Proven expertise in leading, managing, and inspiring work teams to deliver high-quality results with an emphasis on safety outcomes.An understanding of the Victorian Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Codes of Practice in Victoria.Demonstrated capacity to work autonomously, prioritising tasks effectively and meeting stringent deadlines for deliverables.Good written and verbal communication skills, facilitating warm and clear exchanges of information.Proficient in analysing health and safety data (e.g., Health & Safety statistics, lead and lag indicators, incident causation factors) to identify trends and provide management with insightful recommendations for decision-making.Application Process: To apply for the position, please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant skills and why you are interested in this role.
