Kimberley Mineral Sands Pty Ltd (KMS) is a 50/50 joint venture between Sheffield Resources Limited and YGH Australia Investment Pty Ltd (Yansteel). The Thunderbird Mineral Sands Operation (Thunderbird) is located mid-way between Derby and Broome, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Thunderbird is one of the largest and highest-grade zircon mineral sands deposits in the world and contains valuable heavy minerals including ilmenite, zircon and leucoxene, which are extracted and exported via the Port of Broome.

About the Role
Reporting to the Superintendent Integrated Planning, this is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mining Engineer to join our growing mining company.
Based on site, this role's primary responsibility will include the effective development of the mining plan, consistent with the overall operational goals and strategic direction of Kimberley Mineral Sands.
This role can be offered on a residential Bus in Bus Out or a Fly in Fly out arrangement, relocation support will be provided should the successful candidate be interested in moving to the West Kimberley.
Key Responsibilities
* Update and maintain an integrated mine plan (waste removal, mining, tails deposition)
* Deliver mine pit designs according to industry standards and geotechnical design guidelines
* Ensure effective transfer of planning strategies to site operations
* Development and maintenance of mining and production schedules, mine moves, layouts, yearly costs and budgets for all mining activities
* Deliver plans that are both short term and life of mine that are accurate, clear and effective, liaising with other departments to ensure plan optimisation
Site Based Residential Roster: 4 days on, 3 days off, Bus in Bus out from Broome or Derby
Site Based FIFO Roster: 8 days on, 6 days off
About You
* Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering (or related discipline)
* Restricted Quarry Manager Certificate (Desirable)
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role
* Significant experience in planning, scheduling and budgeting activities
* Experience in mining mineral sands, dry mining with Mining Unit Plant (MUP) and Dozer Ore Mining would be advantageous but not necessary
* Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Projects skills
* Advanced knowledge of CAD and scheduling software packages (Deswik, Surpac & Minesched)
* Sound knowledge of mine planning strategies.
* Proactive and self-driven
* Able to build rapport with employees across all levels of the organisation, as well as manage internal stakeholders and contractors
* Current WA C-Class driver's licence
