The location and Lifestyle:
Mt Carbine is strategically located 75 kms from Port Douglas in Far North Queensland, where the Daintree Forest meets the Great Barrier Reef. The Mt Carbine Tungsten Mine is 120km North of Cairns International Airport via sealed highway. It is central to Mossman, Port Douglas, Mareeba, Julatten and Mt Molloy. Area schools and tertiary facilities are available for families.
About the Role
We are seeking highly motivated and experienced Boilermakers and Fitters to join our team. The role requires physical work and exposure to challenging environments that involve lifting, pushing, pulling, work at heights and other exertions associated with manual roles, with a strong commitment to safety on an operational mine site.
Key Responsibilities – Boilermaker
- Proven experience in fixed plant maintenance and plant welding/fabricating repairs
- Robust understanding of mechanical systems and components
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues effectively
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery safely
- Undertake maintenance, modifications, and fitting of heavy equipment or structures
- Ensure compliance with workplace health, safety, and environmental standards
- Work collaboratively with the workshop team to meet production schedules
- Relevant trade qualifications or certifications in Boilermaker or a related field
- Maintaining a wide variety of fixed plant mine site equipment; strong understanding of mechanical systems
- Ability to work autonomously or as part of a large team
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues effectively
- Work efficiently whilst providing quality workmanship
- Troubleshooting and completing diagnostics where required
- Must be a trade-qualified fitter with experience in a similar field
- EWP, Forklift & confined space tickets are highly advantageous
- Welding experience will be considered advantageous
Key Selection Criteria
- Minimum of 3+ years’ relevant experience (essential)
- Previous mining and processing experience (desirable)
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the company
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong observational skills
- Current C Class Driver’s Licence (essential)
- Queensland Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence (desirable)
Additional Requirements for Working at Mt Carbine
- The ability to pass a pre-employment medical
- Requirement to live within 100 km of Mt Carbine Mine. This position is DIDO
