We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel who will play a key role in providing strategic, commercially focused legal support across our diverse operations in Australia.
This hybrid role offers the flexibility to work from home and can be based anywhere in Australia. You’ll be part of a collaborative, fast-paced environment where your expertise will help shape outcomes across multiple business lines and functions on a broad range of legal matters. The role will have a lawyer reporting to it, giving the right person the opportunity to build a high-performing and impactful team.
If you’ve worked in-house, have experience in providing advice on high value commercial contracts, have some experience in M&A and want to work with a great team, we’d like to meet you.
What we’re looking for from you:
* Deliver timely, accurate, and pragmatic legal advice to support business objectives while managing risk.
* Partner and work collaboratively with the operational and functional business units to achieve commercial outcomes within the risk acceptance level set.
* Provide legal support and advice on all transactional and contractual issues across (including supply contracts, business/asset acquisitions and disposals, property).
* Manage claims and litigation, engaging external counsel where appropriate.
* Advise on Data Privacy matters (with external legal support).
* Provide guidance of matters relating to M&A from due diligence to integration (with support from external).
* Develop, review and update internal governance policies
* Collaborate with global colleagues on cross-border projects and initiatives.
* Contribute to continuous improvement streamlining processes and activity through the adoption of existing and new technology.
* Develop others and share expertise and knowledge.
* Lead and mentor a direct report, fostering a high-performing and engaged legal team.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Admission as a solicitor in Australia with eligibility for unrestricted practice.
* At least 10 years of experience in law firms and/or multinational companies.
* A minimum of 2 years’ experience working as in-house counsel.
* Broad experience in corporate law; experience in property and litigation will be highly regarded.
