The key duties of the position include:
What you will do as the General Manager - New Markets and Innovation:
* Lead the consideration of complex policy and regulatory matters as the energy system transitions to net zero and new technologies and commercial models challenge traditional assumptions about the roles of electricity networks and contestable markets.
* Drive innovation to support accelerated access to, and deployment and orchestration of distributed energy resources.
* Maximise the impact of regulatory sandboxes by facilitating trials and sharing and applying lessons learned to promote innovation.
* Lead regulatory assessments of ring-fencing waivers and maintain the ring-fencing guidelines.
Eligibility
About you:
In addition to meeting the Secretaries Charter of Leadership Behaviours and the APS Integrated Leadership Profile (ILS) for the SES Band 1 level, the successful applicant will have:
* Demonstrated experience developing and implementing innovative reforms.
* Knowledge or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of the Australian electricity and gas markets; the role, purpose and objectives of the AER and the complex political and stakeholder environment within which the AER operates.
* Tertiary qualifications in law, economics / commerce, public policy or related field is highly desirable.
