The Client
Established 50 years ago, a growing organisation that works closely with global mining and cement industries worldwide, producing market-leading designs, build, services, and repairs.
You will take ownership of detailed mechanical and structural design, analysis, and documentation, working closely with fabrication, project, and site teams to ensure designs are safe, compliant, and practical.
Key Responsibilities
* Working directly with engineering, sales staff, and customers to produce mechanical and structural designs of mining and heavy industrial equipment (pipework, tubes, roofing, stairs, walkways, platforms, frames, tanks, belt filters, bins, etc.)
* Concept designs and drafts from start to finish
* 3D modelling and detailed drafting of equipment using Autodesk Inventor/ Solidworks
* Structural analysis and FEA in accordance with Australian Standards AS1100, AS1170 & more
* Produce bills of materials from sketches created
* Data management and system admin
* Conduct site inspections to support installation, safety, and quality
* Lead and contribute to R&D and continuous improvement initiatives
* Develop project schedules, cost estimates, and basic business cases
* Liaise with procurement, quality, and project teams to ensure buildability and compliance
About You
* 2–5 years' experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer or similar
* Background in heavy industrial, structural steel, or manufacturing projects
* Trade‑qualified background progressed to an engineer preferred
* Commercially switched on — understands cost, scope, and risk
* Strong communicator who can deal with site crews and senior stakeholders
