Key Roles and Responsibilities
A Mechanical Engineer role at a leading organization in Bendigo, Victoria. This position supports industrial refrigeration projects with opportunities for professional growth and hands-on engineering experience.
* Performing calculations and designs for refrigeration solutions to meet client requirements.
* Preparing estimates and tender submissions for minor and major project work.
* Evaluating and modifying existing refrigeration plants to ensure compliance with health and safety systems.
* Assisting with services including consulting, contract work, maintenance, and parts supply, with a focus on customer support.
* Managing projects, including supplier negotiations, design coordination, procurement, resource coordination, and project administration.
* Controlling project costs to ensure successful project completion and conducting regular forecasting.
* Preparing risk assessments and ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation for all equipment and project work.
* Project scheduling using MS Project.
* Developing knowledge of applicable Australian and International standards and ensuring compliance.
* Drafting for small projects and manufacturing using AutoCAD and hand sketches.
* Liaising with mechanical designers, boilermakers, and other tradespersons to facilitate safe and efficient equipment designs.
* Completing safety and engineering audits of refrigeration systems on site and compiling client reports.
* Contributing to the continuous development of internal systems to streamline engineering and project management functions.
* Completing administrative duties related to engineering and project management.
* Supervising and assisting with commissioning new plants as appropriate.
* Assisting with delivering training for internal and external technical personnel.
* Supporting the service department with engineering and small contracting support.
* Taking reasonable care for health and safety and cooperating with management to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
* Performing duties as assigned by the supervisor.
* Supporting front-line delivery of services to customers in line with contractual obligations or as directed by the Projects Leader, Engineering Lead, or Branch Manager.
* Providing outstanding levels of customer satisfaction.
* Developing expertise in all systems under control.
* Maintaining a proactive approach to rectifying incidents before they arise.
* Maintaining a neat and clean appearance while representing the organization.
About the Role
* Relevant tertiary qualification (minimum B.Eng.) in Mechanical, Process, or Chemical Engineering.
* Ability to create, read, and interpret drawings.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proactive approach and ability to work autonomously.
* Attention to detail.
* Keenness to learn and develop through contact with various professionals, including fabricators, consultants, and tradespeople.
* Possession of a current valid driver's license.
* Current right to work in Australia.
* Willingness to undergo pre-employment checks, including reference checks, medical, criminal record check, and drug & alcohol testing.
