We're looking for a
Principal Telecoms Engineer
for one of our key clients who are seeking someone to lead the design, integration, and implementation of mission-critical communications networks. This is a high-impact role where your expertise will directly influence the reliability, safety, and performance of transport systems millions of people rely on every day.
What you'll do:
* Lead the design and configuration of secure, high-availability IP/MPLS networks (Cisco & Juniper)
* Drive integration, testing, commissioning, and migration activities across multi-vendor platforms
* Ensure network designs meet safety, redundancy, and security requirements in mission-critical environments
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex network challenges through diagnostics and root-cause analysis
* Mentor and guide junior engineers, shaping a high-performing communications team
* Deliver documentation, reports, and procedures that meet strict industry and project standards
What you'll bring:
* 10+ years' experience in network engineering with a focus on design, configuration, and integration
* Strong Cisco (ASR/Nexus) & Juniper (SRX) background – MPLS, BGP, OSPF, QoS, VPNs
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering (Engineers Australia membership preferred)
* Professional certifications: CCNP and/or JNCIS/JNCIP
* Proven experience in large-scale infrastructure or operational technology (OT) environments – rail or signalling highly regarded
* Ability to thrive in fast-paced delivery environments, managing competing priorities and deadlines
