We are looking for a highly skilled Leader, Release and Environmentsfor leading the overseeing and planning, coordination, and execution of all software releases within the bank's IT ecosystem. The individual will coach and lead team members to ensure the release process aligns with business needs and regulatory requirements, ensuring minimal risk and disruption to ongoing operations.
As a leader in of the Customer Platforms team, the Leader, Release & Environments will work closely with team members to ensure quality assurance teams, business stakeholders, and other technical teams (internally and externally) to deliver high-quality software solutions on time.
Key Responsibilities
* People leadership: Lead team with clear expectations and shared accountability, empowering people to take ownership of their work and deliver strong results together.
* Release Planning & Scheduling: Develop and maintain a comprehensive release plan that aligns with the bank's business strategy and goals. Collaborate with development and operations teams to schedule and prioritise releases.
* Risk Management & Quality Assurance: Work with stakeholders to identify potential risks associated with releases and ensure effective risk mitigation strategies are in place. Oversee the execution of quality assurance (QA) tests and reviews to guarantee that all releases meet the bank's compliance and security standards.
* Collaboration: Serve as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders involved in the release process, including development teams, QA, business analysts, and senior management. Ensure smooth communication and collaboration across departments.
* Change Management: Lead the change management process for software releases, ensuring all changes are thoroughly documented, approved, and communicated according to internal procedures and regulatory standards.
* Continuous Improvement: Analyse the release process for inefficiencies and work to implement improvements that increase speed, quality, and consistency in release cycles. Ensure continuous improvement through retrospectives and feedback loops.
* Incident Management: Monitor and resolve issues that arise during the release process, collaborating with relevant teams to ensure quick resolutions. Maintain a focus on minimizing the impact of incidents to customers and internal operations.
About you
You will have strong experience of leading a team to achieve delivery of software updates and new features on time, with minimal disruption to operations and in full compliance with regulatory standards. Seamless execution of each release, from planning to post-implementation, with high-quality outcomes that meet security, functional, and performance standards.
Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, proactive risk management, and strong communication are key factors.
Knowledge and Experience
* Extensive experience as a Release &/or Environments Leader
* Strong problem‐solving skills, with a track record of driving results in a fast‐paced, dynamic delivery‐focused environment.
* Experience in working closely with vendor platforms/products to deliver outcomes.
* Proven experience in building out detailed runsheets, liaising with technical teams to manage dependencies.
* Strong experience working in large transformation programs within an Agile environment.
* High proficiency with project management / release tools including JIRA and Confluence.
