Working within the Operations department, this position plays a key role in Council’s Construction, Maintenance, Open Space and Spray Sealing Teams. Contributing to the effective delivery of road maintenance, road construction, asset maintenance and bituminous sealing activities. The role includes the safe operation of plant and equipment—particularly rollers, tractors, slasher, sealing plant or any other plant as directed by the supervisor—as well as performing other duties as necessary.

* A current driver licence (Heavy Rigid Desirable)
* Employee working with children check

* Construction White Card (CPCCWHS1001)
Experience

*
o Basic experience using hand tools, small plant or equipment in a labouring, construction, farming or outdoor work environment is desirable.
o Experience working in a team environment and following instructions from supervisors.
o Ability to perform physical labouring tasks in outdoor conditions for extended periods.
o Previous experience in civil construction, road maintenance or spray sealing is desirable.
Key selection criteria 1
* Experience across either construction, farming, parks & gardens, signage and line marking maintenance.
Key selection criteria 2
* Intermediate written and verbal skills.
Key selection criteria 3
* Qualification in construction, parks, gardens or transferable skills working with a council
