Willyama High School (enrolment 570 students, including 141 Aboriginal students) is a comprehensive high school located in Broken Hill in Far West NSW. Our school has established positive relationships and strong connections with our local community with a focus on evidence-based teaching and learning practices that inspire our students to excel through academic, sporting, extra-curricular and cultural endeavours. There is a strong focus on using technology in the classroom and improving literacy and numeracy throughout our school. Selection Criteria
Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with mild intellectual disability and autism.
Demonstrated capacity to support students with complex behaviour and emotional needs.
Demonstrated ability to implement differentiated teaching practices that cater to diverse learning abilities, promoting student engagement and improving literacy and numeracy outcomes.
Highly developed organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
Highly developed interpersonal skills that strengthen student, parent/carer relationships, including Aboriginal families.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
