The Daylesford Dharma School is seeking an energetic Health and Physical Education Teacher to join our team on Wednesday afternoons. This 0.1 position is perfect for someone looking to balance their teaching week within a positive, values-driven teaching environment.
In this role, you will lead our HPE program with a focus on skill mastery and collaborative games, helping students find joy in movement while developing the essential physical skills and confidence that they need to thrive.
* Sporting Skills Mastery: Design and deliver lessons that focus on fundamental movement, sporting and team skills that progresses across a variety of sports.
* Healthy Body Healthy Mind: Use athletic games and programs to engage students in their body-mind connection. Work with students to enjoy building their fitness and health knowledge.
* Collaborative Games: Facilitate games that move beyond competition, emphasizing teamwork, strategy, and compassionate communication on the field.
* Indigenous Curriculum Integration: Weave Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander games, perspectives, and histories into the HPE curriculum, fostering the connection to Country and culture.
* Sporting Schools Coordination: As a recipient of Sporting Schools funding, you will supervise and collaborate with specialist coaches for 4 weeks each term across a variety of sports, ensuring the external programs align with our school's pedagogical approach.

Skills and Experience
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Education and current VIT registration.
* Demonstrated ability to engage students through diverse teaching methods, including inquiry-based learning.
* A commitment to the principles of the Dharma School, including mindfulness and compassionate communication.
* Experience in implementing collaborative games approaches and Indigenous curriculum is highly desirable.
Selection Criteria
SC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the Australian Curriculum HPE strand at the primary school level.
SC2 Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing student engagement teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning development. Able to respond to student learning needs.
SC3 Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning. Demonstrated experience in using data, observation and reflection to inform teaching practice to provide feedback on student learning growth.
SC4 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, colleagues and the school community to support student love of learning, agentic learning with an embedded wellbeing teaching approach that engages students.
SC5 Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Daylesford Dharma School values. Demonstrated experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve the quality of teaching.
