Full-Time, 12-Month Contract

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate Research Fellow to join our Women and Kids research theme and support the Centre of Research Excellence (CRE) in Optimising human milk nutrition to improve the long-term health of preterm infants.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to academic research and project management activities that advance the CRE research objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

* Lead and contribute to manuscripts and publications, including conceptual development, writing, critical revision, formatting, referencing, submission, and responding to feedback
* Prepare high-quality research outputs, including conference abstracts, reports, and presentations
* Assist with grant applications and fellowships
* Support and supervise research students, volunteers, and interns
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including health professionals and consumers
* Develop professional documentation such as reports, newsletters, and promotional materials
* Support written communications for publications and grant submissions
* Work closely with the Theme leader and CRE program manager to contribute to research team operations, including resource planning, documentation, and budgeting.

About You

The successful candidate will possess the following key attributes:

* PhD (conferred or awarded) in health or medical sciences, allied health, public health, or a related field
* Proven ability in academic writing, including first-author publications
* Experience leading or coordinating clinical or health research projects
* Strong understanding of clinical or public health research, ideally involving women, children, and/or infants
* Experience preparing and submitting ethics and governance applications
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Knowledge of Australian health and hospital systems and familiarity with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) principles

Special Requirements

* Some out of hours' work may be required.
* Some interstate travel may be required.
* DCSI Employment screening and Police Checks may be required.
* SAHMRI is required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy for SAHMRI employees carrying out work in any SA Health Facility.

* Immunisation Risk for this position is - Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances)
