About the Role

As an Associate/Associate Director level Mechanical Engineer, you will provide expertise in mechanical design for single and multi‐disciplinary projects across a range of sectors including Transport, Aviation, Defence, Data Centre, and Commercial. Your responsibilities will involve leading small to medium‐size and larger complex engineering design projects, ensuring best‐practice delivery while managing costs and timelines, and developing strong relationships with clients.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide mechanical design leadership on both single and multi‐disciplinary projects.
* Lead small to medium to large‐sized design projects and support or run larger, more complex projects to ensure effective delivery.
* Maintain clear and consistent communication with external clients, authorities, internal colleagues and managers to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.
* Deliver best practices to achieve optimal outcomes for clients, focusing on saving time and reducing costs without compromising quality.
* Build solid, long‐term relationships with clients, identifying new business development opportunities and understanding their evolving needs.
* Contribute to the development and growth of the business unit by supporting strategic goals and initiatives aimed at enhancing overall success.

Key Requirements

* Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Expertise in mechanical building services engineering and design documentation.
* Experience with High Voltage (HV) systems and substations on infrastructure projects, particularly across Defence, Transport, and Data Centre sectors.
* 12+ years' industry experience on Australian building services projects, ideally in a consulting environment.
* Well versed in delivering multiple, concurrent projects of varying scale and sector.
* Strong client relationship management and project management skills.
* Strong leadership, teamwork, interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
* Sound working knowledge of relevant Standards and Codes (AS/NZS 3000, NCC, etc.).
* Understanding of BIM, NavisWorks and Revit MEP (advantageous).
* Strong proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP).
