Role Summary
This position offers a chance to work in a dynamic paediatric emergency department, managing the care of emergency presentations and extended care unit inpatients. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for coordinating investigations, supervising junior doctors, discussing patient care with families, liaising with authorities, and ensuring smooth patient discharge.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the care of all emergency presentations and extended care unit inpatients, including investigation coordination, junior doctor supervision, patient/family discussion, authority liaison, and patient discharge planning.
* Participate in the department's teaching and continuing education program as both a learner and educator.
* Be part of the after-hours on-call roster with consultant backup.
* Contribute to departmental research and quality improvement projects.
About You
To succeed in this role, you should have:
* A Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) or equivalent qualification.
* Registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a medical practitioner.
* Advanced Paediatric Trainee status with RACP and/or ACEM Stage 3 or 4.
* Excellent teamwork skills within a multi-disciplinary environment.
* Effective communication skills with customers and other staff members.
* The ability to work under stressful conditions and/or high workloads.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills (both clinical and individual).
