A leading US financial services firm is seeking an experienced payments and treasury operations professional to join its Global Payments & Treasury Operations function on an initial 6-month contract, with rolling extensions and longer-term permanent potential.
This opportunity supports high-volume institutional payment processing and daily cash movements, backfilling BAU activity for a senior team member who has transitioned onto a major payments automation project.
About the Opportunity
You'll be working as part of a collaborative operations team, supporting end-to-end payment processing, settlements, reconciliation activities, and transaction investigation work across multiple systems and applications.
This role will suit someone who enjoys structured, process-driven work, takes pride in accuracy, and is comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Process funds transfer and settlement instructions in an accurate and timely manner to meet payment cut-off and SLA requirements.
* Investigate differences in cash processing and perform settlements and reconcilements.
* Monitor payment processing applications and production activity.
* Review and validate payments submitted through multiple channels including wire and account-based submissions.
* Identify and flag issues that arise with payment mechanisms and support production validation activities.
* Research and resolve complex transactional and reconciliation-related queries.
* Complete regulatory and compliance monitoring and reporting requirements.
* Act as an escalation contact for data processing issues and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
* Take responsibility for the quality and completion of assigned work while supporting tasks delegated by senior team members or the manager.
* Participate in business initiatives and new projects and perform user acceptance testing where required.
Skills & Experience
* 2 to 3 years' experience in financial services or a payment processing environment.
* Strong attention to detail and high accuracy in processing and reconciliation work.
* Effective communication, teamwork capability, and sound organisational skills.
* Ability to manage deadlines during high-volume processing periods.
* Knowledge of Austraclear and SWIFT payment systems is preferred.
Position Details
This is a high-volume institutional payments and treasury operations environment with exposure to multiple processing platforms and applications. The role is hybrid, with two days working from home and three days in the office once fully trained. Standard working hours are typically 9am to 5pm, with offshore support assisting with later-cycle processing.
