Consultant Urological Surgeon
Launceston General Hospital invites applications for a Consultant Urological Surgeon to join a dynamic and expanding team. Serving a population of approximately 300,000, our unit provides a comprehensive Level 6 Urology service across North and North-West Tasmania and statewide sub‐specialist services.
Location
* Launceston General Hospital & Mersey Community Hospital, Department of Surgical and Perioperative Services – outpatients and theatre suites.
* Launceston is Tasmania's second major city, offering a supportive and innovative environment.
Responsibilities
* Clinical Activities:
* Operating in the Main Theatre Suite at LGH.
* Operating in the Day Procedure Unit at LGH & MCH.
* Seeing patients in the Outpatient Clinic at LGH & MCH.
* Conducting weekly Grand Rounds.
* Providing consultative service for other specialty units.
* Supervising the clinical work of junior medical staff in the Unit.
* Quality Assurance Activities within LGH:
* Participating in Unit and Departmental Management Meetings.
* Participating in continuing education meetings.
* Teaching clinical staff (Doctors and Nurses).
* Ensuring accurate clinical records are maintained for each patient.
* Overseeing the quality of care provided by junior medical staff.
* Teaching & Research:
* Undergraduate teaching, including tutorials for students of the Tasmanian Medical School.
* Teaching junior medical staff.
* Participating in clinical reviews and research activities at LGH.
* Research is encouraged with funding available through the Clifford Craig Foundation.
* Call Back duties.
* Actively participating in and contributing to the organisation's Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives and related training.
* Additional duties as required within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected at this classification level.
Qualifications
* Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty.
* Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or equivalent – desirable.
* Experience in female urology and robotics is highly valued.
* Registration/licences must remain current and valid at all times while employed.
Salary & Benefits
* Visiting Medical Practitioners Level 1 – 4: $280,161 - $490,097 per annum, pro rata, plus 12% superannuation and salary packaging.
* Urology Specialist Allowance up to $110,000 per annum, pro rata.
* Relocation and commencement support up to $15,000 for approved appointees.
* Access to a state‐of‐the‐art da Vinci XI dual‐console robotic platform and other advanced equipment.
