Marree Aboriginal School is a small B-12 site located in the far north of South Australia, 690 kilometres from Adelaide. The Marree Township is accessible by bitumen and is at the junction of the Birdsville and Oodnadatta tracks. The residents of Marree derive from Aboriginal, Afghan and European heritage. Marree is the home of the Arabana and Dieri people. The school is well resourced and supported by families and the community. Marree is a small, friendly and safe community to live and work in.
We are seeking a teacher to work across our site from reception to year 9. This NIT position will allow the successful applicant to work across the school and have opportunities to work with other teachers to become familiar with our pedagogies and practices. The areas taught and timetabled will include Arts years reception to 9, Literacy years 5 to 9, Maths years 5 to 9 and Geography years 5 to 9. We currently have a junior primary/primary class (8 students), and a secondary/SACE class (6 students) as well as an onsite creche and preschool (4 students). Our students have strong attendance and are highly engaged in school and learning.
