Purpose The Deputy Chief Financial Officer (Deputy CFO) is a key leadership role within the finance function of Flight Centre Travel Group. Reporting directly to the CFO, and working closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Deputy CFO is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the finance team, contributing to strategic financial planning, and supporting the CFO in ensuring the company's financial objectives are achieved. This role requires a high level of financial and commercial acumen, leadership, and expertise in financial reporting, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting Primary responsibility for working with the Group reporting teams to manage the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and monthly management reporting packs. Oversee the company's budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling processes, ensuring alignment with strategic goals. Ensure that all financial reports are prepared with a high degree of integrity, clarity, and transparency. Drive the implementation of best practices in financial reporting and accounting systems. Attendance at the Board Audit & Risk Committee meetings. Commercial Support Responsibility for working with the CEO and Remuneration and Benefits leader as a member of the Group Remuneration Committee. Attendance at the Board Remuneration & Nomination Committee meetings. Working closely with the CEO and CFO on strategic and commercial opportunities as they arise. Strategic Financial Leadership Work closely with the CFO to develop and execute the company's long-term financial strategy, supporting business growth, investment, and capital structure management. Working with GFLT to drive and execute on the global finance priorities. Provide financial insights and analysis to the executive team to drive decision-making and business planning. Assist in identifying and evaluating financial risks and opportunities, advising on the optimal approach to mitigate or leverage them. Corporate Governance & Compliance Work with the CFO to ensure the company adheres to all relevant regulatory, statutory, and governance requirements, particularly as they pertain to ASX listing rules, financial reporting obligations, and corporate taxation. Primary responsibility for working with external auditors to manage half-year and full-year external audit completion. Maintain an understanding of changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and regulations that affect the business. Team Leadership & Development Leadership of all direct reports, including the Company’s 4 Divisional CFOs and 3 Regional CFOs as well as the Global Transactional Finance Leader. Leadership and running of the Global Finance Leadership Team (GFLT) including the direct reports listed above plus the Group Treasurer. Support recruitment, training, and development activities to ensure the finance function remains high-performing and agile. Drive process improvements within the finance department to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management Collaborate with key stakeholders, including senior management, external auditors, investors, and regulatory bodies. Support the CFO in investor relations activities, including earnings calls, presentations, and meetings with institutional investors and analysts. Act as a key point of contact for financial queries from board members, executives, and external stakeholders. Mergers, Acquisitions & Corporate Transactions Assist in evaluating and structuring potential mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions, ensuring financial viability and alignment with the company’s strategy. Support the CFO in leading due diligence and post-transaction integration processes. A professional qualification such as CA (Chartered Accountant), CPA (Certified Practicing Accountant), or similar. Experience Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a listed company environment. Strong experience in financial reporting, management accounting, budgeting, and financial forecasting. Deep understanding of corporate governance and financial regulations. Proven track record of leading finance teams, driving change, and supporting corporate strategy. Experience in M&A, capital markets, or other complex financial transactions is an advantage.
