Midwifery Role Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced midwife to work in partnership with women and families expecting an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander baby. This role will provide contemporary, evidence-based family-centred care aimed at improving maternal and infant health outcomes, ensuring cultural safety, and delivering culturally responsive care throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period.
* Provide individualised care plans for antenatal, postnatal, and intrapartum care
* Maintain woman and baby safety, risk minimisation and safe work activities within the practice setting
* Develop and implement culturally responsive care strategies to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
About You:
To be successful in this role you will have: fulfilled the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 8, Nurses, and Midwives (Queensland Health and Department of Education) Certified Agreement (EB11) (2022) - Midwifery Generic Level Statements (GLS) Midwife Grade 5
1. maintained current knowledge and competence within scope of position
2. practiced in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting midwifery practice

Requirements:
To be eligible for this role, you must meet the following requirements:be an Indigenous person from the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community
5. have a Bachelor of Nursing degree and registration as a midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
6. have experience in providing midwifery care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and their families
