We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team. In this role you'll play a key part in delivering high-quality financial reporting, building strong partnering relationships and enjoying working within key financial deadlines.
As an Assistant Accountant within our Finance Planning and Performance team, you'll provide comprehensive support to the Finance Business Partner, School and Faculty Business Managers, working alongside a dynamic group of professionals while assisting with the ongoing development, compilation and presentation of the University's financial management reports.
This G06 continuing, full time role attracts a remuneration of $96,323 - $102,186 + 17% superannuation and other generous entitlements.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Provide support to the Finance Business Partner, School and Faculty Business Managers
* Prepare, review, and analyse financial reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
* Provide expert accounting advice across the University, ensuring alignment with accounting standards and internal policies
* Work with internal stakeholders to foster relationships
* Prepare and review reconciliations and accounting journals
* Promote and contribute to a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and adoption of best practice in financial processes
Desirable
* Relevant experience in an aligned commercial organisation or the higher education sector.
Who we are looking for / Selection Criteria:
* Demonstrated understating and experiences in the application of accounting principles, concepts and practices
* Working towards membership of an internationally recognised accounting body (e.g. CA ANZ or CPA)
* Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate accurate information clearly and professionally
* Demonstrated ability in customer service delivery working with multiple stakeholders, with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively
* Demonstrated experience in accounting software systems (e.g., Finance One) and Microsoft Office suite of tools, such as Excel and Word.
* Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.

* As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.
