Foundation to Advance Clinical Pharmacist Programme (RSCH/PRH)

At UHS Sussex we're proud to be at the heart of the NHS. As one of the UK's largest acute trusts, we share a commitment to excellence, ambition and the values that have defined the NHS for over 70 years.

Our hard‐working, talented and dedicated people work together to deliver Excellent Care Everywhere for our patients, staff and communities. We value compassion, inclusion and respect as our core values and offer extensive welfare programmes and flexible working to support work‐life balance.

As a university trust and leader in healthcare research, we prioritise learning, teaching and training. Throughout your career with us, you will grow and develop, gaining visibility and recognition for your contributions.

Job overview

The Pharmacy department is rapidly expanding and we are delighted to invite applications to our FOUNDATION to ADVANCE Clinical Pharmacist Programme. This 18‐month competency‐based progression programme enhances skills and experience across diverse clinical specialities. Pharmacists will progress from a post‐registration foundation pharmacist (band 6) to an advance clinical pharmacist (band 7). The programme supports completion of a postgraduate diploma at University College London and encourages attainment of a clinically enhanced pharmacist independent prescribing qualification.

We welcome applications from trainee pharmacists, other‐sector pharmacists, and experienced band 6 or 7 pharmacists, who will be aligned to the appropriate stage of the programme based on experience. We seek talented, self‐directed, productive team‐players who can manage the busy responsibilities of this key NHS role.

Main duties of the job

University Hospitals Sussex comprises the Royal Sussex County Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital in the East, and Worthing, St Richards and Southlands in the West. Please specify your preferred site in your application.

Through the programme you will work in a range of specialties including: Abdominal Medicine & Surgery, Acute Medicine, Acute Frailty, Aseptics, Cardiology, Cardiothoracics, Critical Care, Education Development, Endocrine, HIV, Infectious Diseases / Antimicrobial Stewardship, Intermediate Care / Rehabilitation, Mental Health, Neurology & Neuro Rehabilitation, Neurosurgery, Renal, Respiratory, Adult & Paediatric Cancer Services, Stroke, Urology and Vascular Surgery, Women's & Neonates.

Working for our organisation

We have a range of staff networks, a Disability Confident Employer (Level 3) and a Veteran Aware Trust. We treat our patients and staff with compassion and empathy, and we offer a wellbeing programme that supports flexible working and a healthy work‐life balance.
