Job Description – Operations & Electrical Manager

Location: Malaga, Perth (Workshop-based with occasional site attendance)

Overview

Grant Transformers designs, manufactures and imports distribution transformers and related electrical equipment for Australian and international markets.

This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day factory operations, ensuring electrical compliance of project builds, and supporting customer warranty and preventative maintenance works.

Approximately 70% of this role is factory-based operational leadership, with up to 30% of capacity allocated to site attendance for warranty inspections, diagnostics and preventative maintenance services.

Position Purpose

The Operations & Electrical Manager is responsible for the efficient operation of Grant Transformers' Malaga manufacturing facility and project delivery activities, while ensuring all internally integrated electrical works comply with AS3000 and related Australian Standards prior to dispatch.

This role also supports lifecycle reliability of Grant Transformers' installed equipment through periodic site attendance for warranty support and maintenance works.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Leadership (Factory-Based)

* Oversee day-to-day operations of the Perth manufacturing facility
* Maintain control of manufacturing and project processes to ensure efficiency, quality and customer service standards are maintained
* Manage procurement, inventory and logistics to ensure on-time delivery of projects
* Drive process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce lead times and improve cost efficiency
* Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental and ISO quality standards
* Ensure staff workload is appropriately scheduled to maintain continued production and project output
* Conduct weekly production meetings reviewing sales orders, purchasing requirements and material availability
* Ensure raw material checks and workplace inspections are carried out weekly
* Implement ISO systems to generate Non-Conformance or Quality Control reports where required
* Monitor production capacity against monthly output requirements

Electrical & Project Compliance

* Provide technical oversight for electrical design integration, testing and commissioning of locally manufactured and imported transformer solutions
* Ensure all transformer project builds and internal wiring installations comply with AS3000 Wiring Rules, AS/NZS 60076 Transformer Standards / AS 2374.1.2 (MEPS where applicable)
* Review and approve electrical installation workmanship prior to dispatch
* Ensure final factory testing, wiring terminations and internal cabling installations meet statutory electrical safety requirements
* Ensure test records are completed and final sign-off is recorded for each job prior to dispatch

Warranty Support & Product Field Services (~30%)

* Attend customer sites periodically to undertake warranty inspections, fault diagnostics, preventative maintenance, commissioning support and minor repair works
* Support execution of routine inspection and maintenance of Grant Transformers' installed fleet
* Coordinate subcontractors where internal attendance is not feasible due to operational workload or geographic constraints
* Ensure site repair or modification works are carried out in accordance with AS3000, AS/NZS 60076 and project-specific requirements
* Provide formal service reports following each site attendance
* Feed field service findings into internal production and engineering teams to support continuous improvement
* Maintain oversight of production scheduling when deployed to site to ensure factory output and delivery timelines are not adversely impacted
* Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of supervisors, engineers and technicians
* Work closely with Sales, Project Management and Senior Leadership teams to ensure smooth project handover and customer satisfaction
* Attend client and supplier meetings where required
* Support estimating team where needed

Position Requirements

* Trade Qualification or Electrical Licence (Essential)
* Strong electrical knowledge and experience within transformer or power equipment environments
* Effective communication skills with strong attention to detail
* Ability to work in both workshop and site environments
* Strong time management and organisational skills
* Self-motivated with ability to achieve outcomes
* Strong team focus and personal work ethic
