**Role Description**
The System Designer will be responsible for designing and assuring a multi-dimensional Space Domain Awareness (SDA) systems in line with the solution architecture. This role will provide comprehensive guidance on the development of, and modifications to, solution components during the Competitive Co Design Pilot and Advanced Work phases of the project; including taking account of relevant architectures, strategies, policies, standards and practices. This involves working with the engineering team, external stakeholders, and the Command and Control (C2) and Data supply industry partners to design a best for capability outcome. The System Designer will assist in the selection of the preferred data partner and in the delivery of acquisition program artefacts in support of project approvals.
**Key Activities**
- Application of technical and professional knowledge of Systems Design and System Engineering processes for Agile delivery within the Defence environment.
- Adopting and adapting system design life cycle models based on the context of the work using adaptive (agile) approaches for system design.
- Develop, Review and evaluate system designs and ensure appropriate methods, tools and techniques are applied effectively.
- Identify and evaluate alternative design options and trade-offs.
- Contribution to selection of architecture components.
- Provide technical guidance for solution development and integration in an Agile environment.
- Provide engineering solutions that enable collaboration and integration with domestic partner agencies, and strategic industry partners.
- Identification of project issues, risks and mitigations.
- Evaluation of Agile iterations for changes and deviations from specifications and recommend actions.
**Deliverables**
- Documentation of all data flows through the system.
- Development of project engineering artefacts and documents.
- Review and provide necessary contribution to any project and engineering documents and/or artefacts.
- Assist with any industry engagement activities.
- Provision of engineering advice and technical support to Project Managers.
- Provide project engineering support as required.
**Key requirements**
Essential
- Bachelor degree in a relevant field, such as information technology, information systems, software engineering or computer science.
- Experience in technology products/domains (eg. computing technologies, cloud certifications, software architecture/development qualifications, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience in supporting a complex technical project and/or a major acquisition.
- Ability to define, document and carry out projects or reviews, including being able to understand and discuss technical capability and technology solutions.
- Ability to perform capability and requirements analysis, detailing the current state and determining capability needs to reach the future/intended state.
- Ability to work with stakeholders to capture needs across the technical, process and resource domains.
- Excellent Written and Verbal Communication.
- NV1 Security Clearance.
Desirable
- Experience in Agile work processes.
- NV2 Security Clearance.
