Botanical Resources Australia is the global leader in the production of the natural insecticide active ingredient, pyrethrin, extracted from Australian grown pyrethrum daisies. On behalf of our valued client Botanical Resources Australia (BRA), we are currently seeking applications for a Casual Laboratory Assistant to join their Research and Development team.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Pathology Research Coordinator, this casual role will be based at BRA's purpose-built facility in Ulverstone. Primary responsibilities include assisting with a variety of laboratory-based tasks to support the day-to-day operations of the R&D team.
Working will vary between two- five days per week Monday – Friday, this casual role is expected to run for approximately 6 months.
To be successful in this role you will have a strong attention to detail, have the ability to follow procedures, and be able to execute all duties with a high level of focus and accuracy.
Key responsibilities:
· Able to prepare samples according to written procedures, including frequent microscope use.
· Count, record and report accurately on raw data and observations in accordance with good record keeping practices.
· Maintain safe working practices at all times and use Personal Protective Equipment as directed.
· Potential for field or glasshouse work, including trial assessments, planting and sampling (seeds, leaves and flowers etc).
· Maintain a clean and well organised laboratory.
The ideal candidate will possess the following experience/skills:
· Ability to undertake repetitive tasks, whilst having an accurate attention to detail and maintaining a high level of concentration.
· Strong oral communication and listening abilities.
· Competency with word and excel, with good writing and reading skills
· Ability to work as part of a team.
