Senior Management Accountant

Black Hops is one of Australia's best-known independent craft beer brands with brewery, hospitality and wholesale operations.
We are currently seeking a Senior Management Accountant to take ownership of the finance function and provide strong financial discipline during a key operational phase of the business.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working closely with leadership, improving financial processes and ensuring accurate reporting in a fast-moving environment.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will play a key role in financial reporting, cashflow management and compliance while supporting operational decision making across production, hospitality and wholesale.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
* Own the month-end close process across P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow
* Prepare accurate management accounts with clear variance analysis
* Maintain key reconciliations including bank, payroll, inventory and ATO accounts
* Ensure balance sheet integrity and correct classification of financial positions
* Maintain strong financial reporting discipline
Cashflow & Working Capital Management
* Maintain rolling cashflow forecasts
* Monitor cash burn and liquidity risks
* Provide clear cash reporting to management
* Assist leadership with scenario modelling and financial decision support
Statutory & Compliance
* Oversee timely lodgement of BAS, PAYG, Super and Excise obligations
* Maintain visibility of statutory liabilities
* Work closely with external advisors on excise, R&D and taxation matters
Budgeting & Forecast Support
* Support budgeting and rolling forecast processes
* Monitor performance against forecasts
* Provide financial insights to operational teams
Systems, Controls & Process Improvement
* Work closely with external bookkeepers and accountants to ensure transactional accuracy
* Improve finance processes and SOPs across Payroll, AP, AR and month-end
* Strengthen internal financial controls and reporting systems
About You
You are a commercially minded accountant who enjoys working in a practical operational environment.
You bring strong financial discipline and enjoy building robust reporting processes that support decision making.
Experience
* 4–8+ years Management Accounting experience
* Strong balance sheet and cashflow capability
* Experience working with external accountants or outsourced finance teams
* Experience in FMCG, manufacturing or hospitality environments preferred
Highly Regarded
* Exposure to alcohol excise or regulated industries
* Experience working in growing businesses
