The Tool Room Manager is responsible for overseeing all activities within the tool room, including team management, maintenance, and inventory of tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures. This role ensures the timely availability and functionality of tooling to support manufacturing operations while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
2. Manage the daily operations of the tool room, including scheduling, staffing, and workflow.
3. Supervise a team of toolmakers, technicians, and apprentices.
4. Ensure the proper maintenance, calibration, and repair of all tools and equipment.
5. Oversee the design, fabrication, modification, and inspection of tools and dies as needed.
6. Maintain accurate inventory records and implement tool control procedures.
7. Collaborate with customers, engineering, and quality departments to ensure tooling meets specified requirements and standards.
8. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tool room processes and productivity.
Qualifications:
1. Demonstrated leadership and team management skills in a similar role.
2. Proven experience in a tool room or precision machining environment, preferably in manufacturing.
3. Strong knowledge of tooling, machining processes, and manufacturing equipment.
4. Experience in CAD/CAM software and CNC programming.
5. Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
6. Apprenticeship in Toolmaking, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
