An opportunity has become available for an experienced and knowledgeable **EL1 Assistant Director of Cyber Engagement** and an **APS6 Cyber Security Specialist** to join our client's busy and growing team. **EL1 Assistant Director, Cyber Engagement and APS6 Cyber Security Specialist**
**Contract**: 12-month contract role with option of further 12-month extension.
**Location**: Canberra, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne
The position is an important position within the department and will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across wide-ranging activities of substantial depth involving significant detail.
The role will provide leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision making and is responsible for actively managing key internal and external stakeholder relationships.
**Duties**:
- Leading and conducting risk assessments of the department's internal systems and assessing risk from external connections.
- Undertaking compliance activities in relation to cyber security standards within the Agency and to Digital Partners.
- Developing and participating in the implementation of the department's initiatives focused on the reduction of technology risk, governance and compliance to policies and regulatory compliance.
- Developing IT security standards, policy, procedures, and controls for managing risks.
- Supporting the business by ensuring external stakeholders adequately address all relevant compliance standards such as the PSPF, ISM, Agency Risk Management Frameworks and incident management disciplines.
- Completing and investigating internal and external information security risk and exceptions assessments and documenting and reporting control failures and gaps to stakeholders.
**Essential Criteria**
- Experience with Australian Government governance concepts with a focus on ICT, policy/standards development, documentation of frameworks, and assisting in the reporting to Senior Executive.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to mentor and provide expertise within a team environment and engage with internal/external stakeholders confidently.
- Must hold **Australian Citizenship** and a minimum of **NV1 AGSVA Security Clearance**.The position is required to provide detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems. Where required, the role will coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.
**Duties**:
- Assessing the cyber security position of external stakeholders to the department and providing advice internally to mitigate risks.
- Providing advice and completing work, ensuring the Agency meets all legal and regulatory for Agency Information Technology security, including remaining up to date with amendments to the Information Security Manual and Protective Security Policy Framework.
- Consulting, writing and overseeing the creation of policies and procedures.
- Providing advice and guidance on cyber trends, most likely and dangerous threats, applicable security controls and standards.
- Overseeing, providing peer review and completing risk assessments
