About the Role
As a
Systems Architect
, you will play a pivotal role in defining, assuring, and maintaining
system and enterprise architectures
across complex Defence ICT environments. You'll work closely with the
Chief Engineer, Principal Architect, Systems Engineers, Infrastructure and Network Engineers, Technical Assurance teams, and Defence stakeholders
to ensure architectural integrity across the full system lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
Architecture Development & Assurance
* Develop and maintain
system and enterprise architecture design packs
* Produce
architecture baselines, reference architectures, and decision records
* Assess solutions for
architectural compliance and fitness-for-purpose
Multi-Domain Architectural Views
* Networks
* Infrastructure & hosting
* Applications & data
* Security & cyber
* Integration & interoperability
Governance & Technical Leadership
* Support
end-to-end system integration
* Present recommendations to
engineering governance forums
* Participate in
design reviews, architecture review boards, and technical forums
* Support
Technical Assurance
and delivery of
Objective Quality Evidence (OQE)
Cyber & Accreditation Support
* Contribute to
cybersecurity architecture
* Support
ATO / ATC documentation and accreditation artefacts
* Identify architectural risks, dependencies, and constraints with mitigation strategies
Mandatory Requirements
Minimum NV2 security clearance
(must be held or eligible to maintain)
Proven experience as a
Systems Architect
in complex enterprise or Defence ICT environments
Strong understanding of:
* System & enterprise architecture principles
* Integration patterns and dependencies
* Whole-of-lifecycle and sustainment considerations
* Demonstrated ability to produce
high-quality architecture artefacts and compliance documentation
* Experience working with
multi-disciplinary engineering, cyber, and assurance teams
Desirable Experience
Defence or national security ICT environments
Familiarity with
Defence architecture frameworks and standards
Cybersecurity architecture and accreditation processes
Large-scale or
deployed ICT systems
Architecture modelling tools and structured viewpoints
Contract Details
* Initial Term:
16 February 2026 – 30 June 2027
* Extensions:
Up to
2 x 12-month extensions
(subject to Defence approval)
* No requirement to work during the
Defence Christmas / New Year stand-down
* Domestic travel may be required (Defence-approved, RFQTS provisions apply)
