We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Butcher to lead day-to-day butchery operations and deliver high-quality products and service to our customers.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in their craft, works efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and can lead by example - with a desire to work 'Past the Berrimah Line'.
About the Role
As the Senior Butcher, you will oversee meat preparation, product quality, food safety compliance, stock control, and customer service while supporting and mentoring junior team members. You will play a key role in maintaining operational standards and ensuring customers receive premium products every time.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare, portion, trim, and present meat products to a high standard
* Ensure all food safety, hygiene, and WHS requirements are maintained
* Manage stock rotation, ordering, and waste minimisation
* Provide expert product knowledge and customer service
* Support training and supervision of junior butchery staff
* Maintain display presentation and quality control standards
* Coordinate daily production requirements to meet customer demand
* Contribute to a positive, productive, and team-focused workplace culture
What We're Looking For
* Previous experience in a senior butcher or leadership role
* Strong knowledge of meat preparation, cuts, and presentation standards
* Understanding of food safety and hygiene compliance requirements
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage competing priorities
* Strong communication and team leadership skills
* Reliable, proactive, and highly organised approach to work
* Certificate III in Meat Processing (Retail Butcher)
