About the Role
Are you an experienced practitioner passionate about supporting children, young people, and families to thrive?
We are seeking a Senior Practitioner to provide practice leadership across our Child, Youth and Family Services, overseeing both Youth Engagement and Family Support programs within the Belconnen region and broader ACT community.
This role works with young people aged 10–25 years, including those who are vulnerable, disengaged, or not connected to education, family supports, or community services. It also supports families with children aged 0–18 years through structured case management and early intervention approaches.
The Senior Practitioner plays a key role in ensuring high-quality, consistent, and strengths-based practice across programs, grounded in the Advantaged Thinking Framework and aligned with the ACT Youth Work Code of Ethical Practice.
You will provide practice guidance, complex case support, and leadership to practitioners while ensuring services are safe, inclusive, and outcome-focused.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Providing practice leadership, mentoring, and support to youth and family practitioners
* Overseeing complex casework across Youth Engagement and Family Support programs
* Supporting consistent application of strengths-based, trauma-informed, and solution-focused practice
* Ensuring alignment with the ACT Youth Work Code of Ethical Practice and organisational frameworks
* Contributing to intake, assessment, risk management, and safeguarding decision-making
* Supporting integrated service delivery across schools, community organisations, and government services
* Monitoring service quality, outcomes, and program performance indicators
* Supporting program development, evaluation, and continuous improvement
* Facilitating collaboration between Youth Engagement and Family Support teams to ensure holistic support for families
* Providing guidance on case planning for 12–18 week family support interventions and youth engagement pathways
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* A Bachelor or Masters qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Youth Work, Counselling, or a related discipline
* Significant experience working with vulnerable children, young people, and families
* Demonstrated experience in complex case management and risk assessment
* Strong understanding of youth engagement, family support, and early intervention models
* Experience providing practice supervision, leadership, or mentoring to staff
* Ability to work across systems including education, housing, health, and community services
* Strong knowledge of strengths-based, solution-focused, and trauma-informed practice
* Understanding of youth participation principles and the ACT Youth Work Code of Ethical Practice
* Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills
* Current WWCC/WWVP clearance, First Aid Certificate, and Driver's Licence
