**About the role**

This is a
**permanent, full-time** position working
**35 hours** (Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm) and will be based at the
**Nowra Administration Building**.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.

**Duties**

Reporting directly to the Manager - Community Planning & Projects, the focus of this position is to:

- Lead a review of Council's Community Infrastructure Strategic Plan (CISP), and deliver an updated CISP in line with organisational priorities and community expectations.
- Develop policies and strategies relating to social/community infrastructure, to ensure that a community infrastructure framework is in place for equitable and streamlined delivery of projects across Shoalhaven LGA
- Undertake advanced social research and analysis, including demographic data, social policy, community engagement outcomes and best practice trends in community infrastructure and provide practical advice and strategic input to Council on a wide range of community infrastructure matters
- Scope projects, write briefs and manage consultants to deliver strategic documents and research reports (e.g. synthetic turf management across the LGA, playground strategies, walkability plans, bike plans etc in collaboration with the Open Space & Recreation Planning team and other areas of Council).
- Consult and partner with internal and external stakeholders throughout the planning and delivery of projects, in line with Council's Community Engagement Policy
- Support the Community Planning and Projects Manager to establish a 10 year project plan for community infrastructure across renewals, replacement, capital infrastructure and compliance updates, supported by the CISP.

**Skills & Experience**

In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

- Degree Qualifications and/or significant experience in Asset Planning, Strategic Planning, Social Planning, Recreation Planning, Urban or Town Planning, Open Space and Recreation management, or related discipline.
- Experience in undertaking social assessments, such as social impact and benefits assessment, social performance and management, community needs analysis.
- Awareness of current and changing directions with community development, social and recreation planning, and community facility functions, with an ability to adopt a multi-disciplinary approach toward achieving innovative solutions to strategic issues.
- Experience in developing and implementing policies and strategies in large complex organisations. Ideally with a background in infrastructure.
- Experience in embedding good process and governance for the organisation around asset management.
- High level of written and oral communication skills, proven ability in writing and presenting reports, writing standard and non-standard correspondence and policies.
- Class C Driver's Licence
- Proof of Australian residency or citizenship
