What you can expect
Jefferies Australian Summer Interns have the unique opportunity to gain insight into a global, client-focused investment bank and experience an entrepreneurial environment where employees have the opportunity to make an immediate impact and are rewarded for performance. Our lean team structure will not only provide you with unparalleled hands-on experience, but it will help assist you to develop lasting personal and professional relationships with peers and senior professionals that will serve as the foundation for a successful career.
Following a Welcome Day orientation, Summer Interns will begin working on their day-to-day responsibilities, with support from colleagues serving as both instructors and mentors throughout the 12-week engagement. Jefferies’ collegial program also offers social opportunities to further enhance your professional development and grow your network.
In addition to working on projects that incorporate research, analysis and recommendations, Summer Interns are challenged to think creatively, offer their input, and add value to the team from day one. As with everyone at Jefferies, Summer Interns are expected to pursue their projects with excellence, a collaborative spirit, and with the highest levels of integrity.
The internship period will be from December 2025 to February 2026 .
Equity Sales and Trading
Jefferies’ global equities franchise delivers leading advisory and execution capabilities across 45 countries throughout the Americas, EMEA and Asia-Pacific. We provide a full-service sales, trading and capital markets platform, and are top ranked across all markets, sectors and categories.
Our top-ranked and experienced sales and trading professionals deliver high touch services to help clients develop investing strategies and execute stock transactions in exchanges in Australia, New Zealand and across the globe. We act as agent, principal or market maker to provide clients with high execution quality in varying liquidity situations—providing clients with bespoke insights and execution informed by our sector expertise.
Our electronic sales and trading team provide clients with local expertise and innovative electronic sales and trading solutions, including customizable algorithms, specifically designed for today’s fragmented and rapidly changing market environment.
What we look for in a candidate
We look for candidates who are eager to make an impact by doing real, hands-on work and participating on active deal teams. Successful Jefferies Summer Interns are able to multitask and manage a variety of projects simultaneously. Candidates must demonstrate professionalism and client management skills together with strong technical, written and verbal communication skills. The work is fast paced, challenging and intellectually stimulating. The ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, be adaptable and work both independently and as part of a team are essential traits of a successful candidate.
Candidates who apply should typically have an outstanding academic achievement in finance, economics, accounting and/or Law and be in their penultimate year of study. We also hire Summer Interns who have studied a variety of degree disciplines such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
