About the Role

The Trial Coordinator contributes to the research project "Improving mental health outcomes through parent and teacher engagement in school‐based early intervention" in partnership with Sydney Catholic Schools. The project evaluates the acceptability and effectiveness of a school‐adapted parent training intervention for young children with disruptive behaviour problems, delivered within a Catholic school setting in South West Sydney. This position is based at the University of NSW in the School of Psychology but requires regular travel to South West Sydney.

Key details: salary $113k–$123k plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading; fixed term – 3 years; part time (17.5 hours); the role reports to the Chief Investigator, Professor Eva Kimonis and has no direct reports.

Specific Responsibilities

* Independently develop and refine study materials, including protocols, standard operating procedures, ethics applications and other materials, in accordance with GCP, CONSORT, regulatory guidelines and study objectives.
* Coordinate project meetings and oversee the smooth running of the externally funded project, ensuring adherence to trial protocols and that milestones and outcomes are met.
* Coordinate the clinical research trial, including managing recruitment, screening, scheduling, tracking, and following up participants, and independently identify and resolve issues surrounding participation rates.
* Develop and maintain organized and efficient systems for scheduling, communication, file organization and documentation of meetings and study procedures; train project staff in their use.
* Perform tasks associated with research trials, including scoring measures, literature reviews, data collection, entry, management, analysis, identifying and resolving data quality issues, administrative tasks, and contribute to drafting manuscripts for publication.
* Monitor adverse events and document and report them to the sponsor(s) and ethics committee(s) as appropriate.
* Build effective relationships with and liaise with multiple educational stakeholders and media outlets.
* Travel regularly to trial sites to provide training, on‐site monitoring and coordination duties.
* Identify philanthropic and grant funding opportunities, contribute to grant applications and draft project budgets.
* Act as the first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, maintaining effective communication and prioritizing urgent matters.
* Assist with preparation and submission of reports, manuscripts and presentations based on research conducted.
* Maintain ethical and professional standards of the project and prepare ethics and governance applications.
* Align with and demonstrate the code of conduct and organizational values.
* Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university.

Selection Criteria

* A postgraduate qualification or equivalent level of knowledge gained through other combinations of education, training or experience; a psychology degree is highly desirable.
* Demonstrated research coordination experience, including protocol development, data management systems, governance, monitoring and reporting.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to handle diverse tasks independently, accurately and with attention to detail while delivering high‐quality work on time.
* Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
* Experience providing administrative and research support with ability to work well under pressure with attention to detail and accuracy.
* Experience with research data management and statistical analysis using SPSS.
* Knowledge of HREC, GCP and reporting for clinical trials.
* Skills in project management, statistical software packages (SPSS, R, MPlus) and statistical analysis.
* Bilingual capability in Arabic and English is highly desirable.
* Capability to implement UNSW health and safety policies and procedures.
* Understanding and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
* Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attend relevant training.
