Based on the scenic south bank of Ross Creek, the Maritime Museum of Townsville conserves and interprets the region's maritime history and heritage, creates an awareness regarding the conservation of the marine environment, promotes safety at sea and promotes the local maritime industries. The museum consists of a number of buildings surrounded by landscaped gardens that must be maintained to ensure an attractive visiting setting.
